Dr John Forrest

The Forrest winery was founded and launched in 1988 by John and his wife Brigid. Their portfolio includes some Virgin Wines favourites like the Belmonte range and the Anaru Sauvignon Blanc. 22 years of winegrowing experience and premier terroir to work with, the Forrest winery is constantly producing the finest of wines.

staff

At the helm of the company are John and Brigid, both are completely passionate about wine, their children Reid, a scientist, Winemaker Beth and Sam who works in sales and marketing, and of course their staff are no different. When not marketing wine around the globe, they are 100% hands on in all elements of the business and ensure quality wine and service, while creating a fun environment for everyone to work in.

The advantage they hold? It is all about the classic Marlborough “terrior” – geologically young, alluvial (stoney), free draining, infertile soils – perfect for premium grape growing.  The vineyard focus is sustainability. John and Brigid own seven and manage two more vineyards in the Marlborough region, located in the Wairau river region.

In his own words

“Making wine is a very personal endeavour, yet one winemakers love to share. For me, winemaking combines my exuberant personality and scientist’s love of experimentation with a continuous quest to capture the best the land, the vines and the vintage have to offer. The result is a collection of wines with great integrity and purity of flavour, which clearly reflect their sense of place. I am proud to share these wines with you”
